Question by snugglebear200482: How can I get my male cockatiel to be nice? How can I train him? What techniques do I have to do?
I have 4 cockatiels. One is a male and the other 3 are females. He is nice to 2 of them, but he is very aggressive towards the pied female. Whenever I try to take him out he tries to bite me.

Answer by lavrisa_bmpw
with the one he is aggressive to you will need to take her out. when he starts to bit you. just lightly tap him on the beek. this is to show him you are the boss. if he keeps this up. just repeet tapping him on the beek. when you are taking him out use a shirt that has your sent on it. then hold him to you this will get him used to you. he thinks you are going to hurt him that is why he is trying to bite you. you can do the same thing with your other birds.
you can also try putting the male and the female in the same cage by themselves. to see if they will get along with out the other females around. if you are having trouble with the cockatil trying to fly off when they are on your finger. just place your thumb over the toes this will also show you are the boss.
talk to the birds and whistle they will pick this up after awhile. i had one that whistled the andy griffen theme song and yelled here kitty kitty. cockatils are real smart even if you don’t think they are. good luck

How do you train a Cockatiel not to bite?

Question by roxy952: How do you train a Cockatiel not to bite?
Best answer:
Answer by Jaamee
If a cockatiel is biting it is probably angry or scared. Since you’re asking how to train it not to bite i’m going assume it’s a new pet. You’re cockatiel just needs to get used to you and it’s new surroundings. Don’t necessarily just deal with the biting, but don’t yell or scare it either. Just say no in a gentle voice, and push it away from biting and pet it or something. Make it no you’re not going to hurt it. Good luck

I have a mean pet cockatiel, how can I train it to be nice?
Category: Cockateil Training Q&A
Question by Jolly: I have a mean pet cockatiel, how can I train it to be nice?
Maybe less mean as it is defensive, but it used to be very calm and cool. But a family member of mine died and I haven’t been able to spend as much time with him and he now bites and hisses at me. What do I have to do to retrain him to be nicer?
Best answer:
Answer by Max Bush
A way to make it be nicer is to feed it from your hand and let him trust you. He probably doesn’t trust you at the moment.
