ok again me . should i house the cockatiel and parakeet together . that’s what i want . will they fight ? what sexes should i choose to be able to have them in a cage . tell me what sex the cockatiel should be , and what sex the parakeet should be . thanks !

parakeets are mean little things so unless they like each other and you have a BIG cage don’t do it

They live in cages right next to each other. They visit daily. They eat the same foods, play with the same toys, and seem to enjoy each other’s company. I just hate cleaning two cages all the time. If i bought a new cage (so neither feels invaded in their own home) and made sure there were two food and water dishes, and plenty of toys to share do you think it’s possible to house them together? The Lovebird is a Lutino lovebird approximately 2 years old. The cockatiel is a pied and he is nearly 20 years old. I adopted him from a family that spent no time with him. he has flourished since we got him. It seems they would be fine together as the only time they fight is when they invade each others cages. That is why I assume introducing both to a new cage at the same time would be best. i just wanted some thoughts on the subject. Thanks in Advance!

NO…..absolutely not..
they may get along with wire between them, but you take that wire away and you may well find your cockateil dead…..
i have been informed by a lot of people that love birds do not live well with other birds…
i have two african love birds and i keep them seperate from my other birds for the reason they will kill them….
if i even put a cage next to their cage with another bird of a different kind, they try to get it through the wire….
DO NOT PUT THEM TOGETHER……

I don’t think I want going to do this anyway, I was just curious to what would happen. If I do decide to get 2, I would get 2 Budgies.

But that person, skydanzer400, suggesting I get Super Huge Cages, before you said I needed a 8 foot tall aviary, now your saying a need 2 at least 3 times bigger for one bird each? Thats INSANE.

It doesn’t matter how big the cage is. It is never a good idea to cage together birds of different breeds. They could fight and do some real damage to each other. If you want those two birds, then buy two cages.

Can they? Does it matter which sex they are? Like, could I put a boy Budgie and a boy Cockatiel together? I have a GIANT cage. I mean, I could put an Amazon in there and it still have enough room. The main question is, could I put them together?
Would they get a long? The food and everything is mainly the same ( right?) they both come from the dessert, so one doesn’t need more baths than the other.

I can not see, there being a problem, with this idea, but putting two male birds together, you may find them to be aggressive, towards each other.

my lovebird is out of his cage and he is on my cockatiel’s cage all day, my lovebird stares at my cockatiel like he’s mesmerized, but then he’ll charge at her. should i let them out together because i don’t think it’s right to let one bird out but not the other……

take them out separatly what ever you do the love bird should not be on cockateil cage , the love bird can damage the cockateil bite her foor toes or even her beak , i suggest to take them out separatly and keeping the lovebird off the others cage=

I was asking about putting my cockatiel with a budgie. My cockatiel is young just a couple months old. i was told if i wanted my tiel with a budgie I should first introduce them before letting them share a cage. Does this mean I should buy a second cage for the budgie or just let my tiel meet the keet right when it bring it home? I am kind of confused. So my main question is – should i buy a second cage before letting them share one?

DONT PUT THEM IN THE SAME CAGE. They may attck each other. Also, they both eat differnet food. You can keep a lovebird or a parrotlet with a cockatiel since the all eat cockatiel food. Budgies should always be kept with their own since no bird has similar care rules.
