Should I really be providing my cockatiel with Spray Millet 24/7?
Category: Cockateil Food Q&A
Question by ross r: Should I really be providing my cockatiel with Spray Millet 24/7?
So, I have this baby cockatiel. He’s about nine weeks old and is still eating baby food–but only twice a day. He’s very good at eating his other foods too. He eats lots of pellets, veggies, fruits, and the small amount of seeds that he’s provided. He eats really well!
Anyways, I was told to provide him with spray millet all the time until he becomes about six months old. But I want to use spray millet as a training treat only. Plus, I don’t want him to spoil his healthy diet ):

you dont have to keep spray millet in there all the time. Im not sure who wouldve told you this… like you said, its more of a treat. JAs long as he’s eating the other things you give him, he’ll be fine

Question by La Chica Bonita ?: What is a good spray to clean a bird cage with?
I am looking for a good spray to clean a metal cage with. I have a cockatiel and i don’t want to harm him in any way, shape, or form. But i need something strong enough to get the droppings off without having to scrub hard.

It is not ok to spray paint around your bird anything with a strong odor can cause respiratory distress in birds. If you mean is it ok to spray paint the cage with the bird not around when you are painting then yes it is find as long as the paint is listed as non-toxic and kid-safe

Did I almost drown my cockatiel? I bathed her by misting w showerhead instead of from spray bottle…?
Category: Cockateil Health Q&A
Question by Qtip07: Did I almost drown my cockatiel? I bathed her by misting w showerhead instead of from spray bottle…?
I’ve had my adult cockatiel for about 3weeks and have been giving it a bath by misting her w spray bottle but couple days ago, I thought it’d be a good idea to mist her in the bathtub from the showerhead like being rained on..she stayed still and didn’t try to avoid it, so i kept going for about a min? but after I was done, noticed her nares pink and heard water clogged up when she tried to breathe..I was so scared and regretted the idea, ’cause it looked like she was going to get sick! but after couple of hrs, she seemed back to herself. i watched her the rest of the day, and she seems to be o.k. I just realize that I shouldn’t have sprayed her from the top of the cage, since the water can go into her nares and I think it was lots of water for her and maybe I almost drowned her…I don’t really see any changes in her so far..just hope she’s going to be o.k. Oh, and not related to this, her poop sometimes is big blob but sometimes thin coil like. is that normal? look like worm shape
