why do i always have trouble taking my cockatiel parrot out of the cage?

Question by Flopsy the Bunny ?: why do i always have trouble taking my cockatiel parrot out of the cage?
i’m trying to make him get used to me but everytime i try to take him outside of his cage with my hand, by gently putting my finger against his lower tummy, he doesnt let me and starts being defensive and bites me a little, their biting don’t hurt but hes just always really scared from me, eve though i’m trying to be as gentle as i can.
what is there i can do so he would stop geting scared and will get on my finger without defendin himself?
should i try everyday so he would get used to me?

Answer by KoKo KiTTy
some birds may never let you take them out from the cage, you have to wait for them to come out on their own.

I have 2 cockatiels, the 7 year old one refuses to come out if I put my hand inside the cage.
the 2 year old will step up easily.

just work with him. let him come out on his own. pet him on the head, let him nibble your fingers so he knows your hand isn’t the enemy

How can i stop a cockatiel parrot from screaming for attention?

Question by Hoah Gurski: How can i stop a cockatiel parrot from screaming for attention?
My cockatiel parrot is getting really annoying from its constant screaming whenever I leave it alone. THe only way it stops is when I let it in the same cage as my other bird. I want to avoid this because it will only interfere with taming.

Is it okay to have a quaker parrot and a cockatiel in a cage with a divider in the middle?

Question by mars: Is it okay to have a quaker parrot and a cockatiel in a cage with a divider in the middle?
I bought this cage ( http://www.everything-birds.com/p23/Double-Forte-Flight-Cage-by-A&E-Cage-Co/product_info.html )
and i have my cockatiels in one of them and my quaker parrot will be going in the other side.
But will that be a problem? Like if one of my cockatiels is chillin (couldn’t think of another word) on the side of the cage which is also the divider, will the quaker parrot be able to bite his toes?
If so, what do you suggest i do?
i was thinking about putting some cardboard next to the divider? i’m not sure yet.

i’m not going to get a new cage though because i just spent 300 dollars on this one and 2 hours putting it together. i do have an extra cage though, but it is rather small

Best answer:

Answer by SusieQ
It should be fine. You might want to keep them in separate cages for a little while if they are not yet used to one another. If they have met and are okay with one another, I wouldn’t worry. I used to have a lovebird that would sneak out of her own cage and sneak into my peach front conures’s cage! I think they will be fine!

All Living Things Square Cage MD Parrot and smaller… Cockatiel?

Question by Sarah-may: All Living Things Square Cage MD Parrot and smaller… Cockatiel?
A medium parrot bird cage would be fine for a cockatiel, right?
what if the bars are 3/4th of an inch apart?

Best answer:

Answer by Rose B
In terms of size, a 3′ by 4′ by 2′ cage should be fine for a cockatiel. I googled the cage you referenced, but I couldn’t find any information on its dimensions.

Edit: You’ll also need to make sure the bars are close enough together that your cockatiel can’t get through them — about 1/3 of a inch apart is a good distance.
