Could I put a Budgie with a Cockatiel together in the same cage if it is a flight cage this big:?

Question by Casey: Could I put a Budgie with a Cockatiel together in the same cage if it is a flight cage this big:?

If your answer is “No”, what about this one?

http://www.opentip.com/Home-Garden/Black-Divided-Flight-Cage-p-1042081.html

I don’t think I want going to do this anyway, I was just curious to what would happen. If I do decide to get 2, I would get 2 Budgies.

But that person, skydanzer400, suggesting I get Super Huge Cages, before you said I needed a 8 foot tall aviary, now your saying a need 2 at least 3 times bigger for one bird each? Thats INSANE.

Here’s the one I’m going to get for one Budgie:

What now?!

Answer by Aggie
It doesn’t matter how big the cage is. It is never a good idea to cage together birds of different breeds. They could fight and do some real damage to each other. If you want those two birds, then buy two cages.

My 2 year old cockatiel has lost all of his flight feathers on only one wing over the last month.?

Question by steelyourself: My 2 year old cockatiel has lost all of his flight feathers on only one wing over the last month.?
He is NOT pulling the feathers out. He has never had his wings clipped. He seems happy otherwise and is eating, playing and singing as usual but he can no longer fly and it doesn’t seem like the flying feathers are growing back. His food and water are changed regularly and nothing has changed in his environment or diet. As far as I know, his wing wasn’t ever injured as he can still spread his wings nicely. Any ideas?!

The only thing I can think of is molting, or he’s sick.

Idk if you know about molting or not, but it’s when a bird starts shedding for the most part. Lol. Have you noticed anymore feathers than usual at the bottom or around his cage? Birds molt at least twice every year. It’s when their body gets rid of all the feathers that the body sees as damaged or no longer in tip top quality, so it can grow them back brand new and healthy. Wing feathers and tail feathers are always very noticeable because they’re the biggest ones. And sometimes one wing will only molt at a time.

As for a possible sickness, I’m not sure. I’ve never really looked into anything else than common illnesses in birds. I suggest holding your cockatiels wing out and looking under the feathers to the skin. You may see some blood feathers there coming in that will replace the old wing feathers in about 2 weeks, maybe a tad longer. If you see no blood feathers, look at the skin to see if anything looks suspicious. Even if nothing does look suspicious and you’re still worried, maybe phone a vet to get a second opinion. You can usually call vets to just ask them a quick question. Good luck!

I’m Trying To tame My Cockatiel, But is Clipping His Flight Feathers Really The Best Way to Tame Him?

Question by Bananna: I’m Trying To tame My Cockatiel, But is Clipping His Flight Feathers Really The Best Way to Tame Him?
I Asked a Question before on how to tame a cockatiel, and some people said that i should clip my bird’s wings (Trimming the flight feathers). But some think this is a very wrong thing to do. Im still trying to decide what would be best for my year old male cockatiel Simba.

Trimming a bird’s wings does not hurt the bird, all it does is prevent the bird from flying away from you, making it easier to train. You should definitely trim your bird’s wings.
