i basically agree with everyone else. oh, and i wouldnt necessai; say tht ur cockatiel is unhappy, its just its natural response towards humans. This is th breeder's fault. some breeders dont play or handle the bird while their a baby, so they r not rrly accustomed to human touch. i use to have birds who cam from a breeder like this. it took me a rrly long time for me to hold them. A crucial thing is to never grab ur bird from behind, then it'll see u as a predator. swiftly put 2 fingers abo its lgs beneath its belly and nudge it up; it will automatically step onto u w/out evnt realizing it. also, if ur bird wont let u scratch it, try blowing on its head first. Eventually, ull be able to sneak ur fingers in their.
The basic key is that ur gonna hafta spend a lot of tim w/ it and help it become accostomd to u.

no she is not to old to tame because when i first got my 2yr old she was like that but when i caught her inside the cage and began to handle her more often she eventually got used to me and my family and now i can just take her out of the cage and pet her(make sure you get her wings clipped though)

Sure certainly isn't to old to tame :)

The first thing you need to do is get her wings clipped. It makes the bird more Dependant on you and prevents them from hurting themselves in their panic.

Don't force them out of the cage by grabbing or chasing them. It just reinforces them being afraid of you.
Whenever she sees you right away give her a special treat that isn't usually something she has access.
Like cherrios, millet, sun flower seeds. Keep in mind this only works if she doesn't have these things in her cage all the time.

Open the door and let her crawl out to you on her own hold the treat over your hand to entice her to step up. when she steps up immediately give her the treat.

Eventually she will see you as a treat giver and a good thing to be around ;)
