I agree with Donna , I used to have two too.
Mine never spoke but they were very affectionate and comical.
They also died of age, Tim the white one died first and Tom the grey shortly after. I think Tom pined for Tim.
Ours were out of the cage most of the time and did quite a bit of damage to the ceilings, they nearly electrocuted their selves and set the house alight once when they stripped the light cables down to the wires.
They're lovely little birds but they do need company, warmth,a good varied diet and regular cleaning.

Can't say yes or no, if it's a grey, and the cage is new and depends on the cage I would say no! go along to your local pet shop and price both up then make your own decision!

Jad must have these birds confused with another because most cockateils are 12 – 14 inches long, with the tail making up about half of that size and weigh 75 to 100 grams (no where near the 25-30 pounds Jad claims). Make sure the cage is big enough to hold the cockateil.A minimum floor space of 18 inches by 18 inches inches per cockateil is suggested with a minimum height of 24 inches. Moderately thick wire, and ½ inch wire spacing are advised, as cockateils will climb around and chew on the bars. The bird is young why the person is getting rid of it is no concern of ours on here as one lady asked. Things in life prevent ppl from keeping their pets. These birds can live up to 20 yrs if their diet is NOT all seed based as all parots need they too need fresh fruits and veggies I urge you to do some of your own research on this animal prior to accepting it. Also know not ALL birds will talk and if you teach it to whistle odds are it wont be a good talker..

I'd also like to add please spend atleast 1-2 hrs a day handeling this bird. Is it hand tame? I dont know how to do the conversion but in the US at the birdshop I go to you can get hand raised hand tame for 50 - 80 dollars US. Which is cheap considering major petstore charge 150 per bird (the place I go to is private owned he hand selects his breeders and birds)

Yes, it is, providing the cage is clean and in good condition.

Don't buy it if it's all grotty and the cage wire is rusty.

ha ha!!....cheap......thats a good pun....

i would say its about right, at least in my area anyway. cockateils are not expensive birds. i used to have two, they died of age. the one could say two words, 'what?' and 'who'. they mimic your whistling brilliantly though. but get them to 'talk'? i doubt it, anyone else ever seen a cockateil talk?

cockateils are normally about 20 to 35 pounds ,the cage should be big enough for him to be able to spread his wings to flap and excercise, the cage price depends on it,s condition.but ,yes that price sounds ok.They normally live to about 14 years old.THEY CAN BE GOOD TALKERS WITH PATIENCE.
