Cockatiels – Everything and Beyond ?

Hyourinzakura asked:

I’ve been wanting a bird for some time now, and I’ve done a lot of research online about them, but I can’t find their personalities? I can everything about their, health, cage size/dimensions, food, care, lifespan, etc.

What are their personalities like? Are they calm, happy, grumpy, mean, nice, sweet, territorial, loving, etc? Can anyone with experience help me out? Or anyone with a page on them about their personality?
Any and all help is appreciated :)

Tiels can be totally fun, happy, devoted pets. They can also carry a grudge and have a long memory. My favorite pet of all time was a female pied I got from a breeder when the bird was 6 weeks old. I was the first human to touch her, and she was sitting on my shoulder in 5 minutes. We lived by ourselves for quite a while, and she would fly out of her cage to meet me at the front door when I came home from work. She would hop around impatiently as I cooked dinner, and she would eat off my plate. (Yes, she was spoiled.) When I would take a nap she would sleep on my shoulder or my hand. The first time she met my future wife (named Jill), she flew out of her cage over to the couch where we were sitting. I had my arm around Jill, and Harley landed on my hand, walked up my arm, jumped onto Jill’s shoulder and bit her on the ear! She was a great bird and a wonderful friend, much more than a pet.
