Determine if my Cockatiel is a male or a female?
They say the males “are more” active with the chirps or sounds. My question is this how much more is more? He chirps when i leave sometimes and sometimes just to chip. (Hey dude look at me.”) type.
So far i have never heard “him” hiss. My sister’s yellow one is female and she does chirp quite a bit.(she laid an egg). Please help thanks.
He’s was said to be a young one and he’s all white if that helps.
Do newspapers post lost pet ads for free?
I want to post a lost ad for my lost cockatiel. I don’t feel like calling them and sounding like a fool when I ask them if I can post them for free. The newspapers in my area are the News Gleaner, Northeast Times and Philadelphia Inquirer.
Is my cockatiel Happy or Scared?
What happens is whenever I play a tape of another cockatiel talking, my cockatiel starts to talk right back very loudly. Then he flies around his cage (I’m guessing he’s trying to find the bird that’s making all the noise) and climbs on the sides of his cage, or flying from perch to perch very fast talking very loudly going “chirp chirp…….chirp chirp” From this information, does it sound like my cockatiel is scared, happy, or interested?

Also if you can answer: Does the behavior described above sound more like a male cockatiel than a female? I will be Dna sexing my cockatiel, but for now I’m only guessing. Does this talking behavior sound more male-ish to you?
When will my Cockatiel open up to me?
He’s only 8 weeks and hes beautiful, he lets me hold him and feed him. I got him yesterday. BUT, he is still really shy, makes very little noise and is suspicous. I know this sounds selfish but he is kind of boring because he doesnt really want to play with me, when will he really start to trust me and what can i do to make it soon? also, what can i do with Dodo to have some fun for both me and him?

Is my female cockatiel going to talk soon?
Ive been teaching my female cockatiel to say “Hello”. and i just noticed she was mouthing the word but no making the sound. does this meen she will starting actually saying the word soon?
She wasnt yawning she was actually trying to say it, picture a cockatiel saying “hello” but without sound thats what my bird is doing.
Cockatiel Clicker training?
well i want to train my cockatiel and a lot of people recommend using a clicker. i just wanted to ask if i could use a pen rather than a clicker. if it would be as effective. i dont want to use the click of my voice because some times my voice will have different sounds which will confuse the bird

the point of the “clicker” is to make the bird do what you want and as soon as you click it he knows a treat is on its way.
all im asking is can i use a click of a pen? ill be using the same basics for a clicker (does something right , click , reward)
What could be wrong with my cockatiel?
He’s constantly straching an area above is tail and he sounds like it hurts because he makes that ‘yak yak’ noise.

Budgie oor cockatiel?
I want a bird that will atleast be able to mimick words and sounds, but I want one that can actually talk. Should I get a budgie or a cockatiel? Is it true that budgies are smarter and more vocal than cockatiels? I’ve heard that cockatiels can’t squawk. Is this true? Please, I need ALL Q’a answered. Thanks.

i just got a cockaiel and i what to know how often i should change his millet i kept it in there for 3 days so far and there is still alot left. Also, how often should i change his food??

I need help from someone who breeds cockatiels?
I have a bonded pair of cockatiels and even set them up a nesting box. Just recently the female started making this quiet chirping sound while raising her tail and either the female will take off to another perch and mess it up or the male will slip and fall off. I bought these cockatiels as a proven mated pair so they should have experience. Its almost like she is testing the waters before she actually tries to mate. She acts like she wants to mate but when the time comes she backs out at the last minute. So do you think she is going to mate and actually get fertilized eggs? Also how long does the female show mating behaviors?
