It’s not a good idea, I’ll tell you that, especially if they’re both female. Being of different species, they would probably be territorial and fight, and also could transmit diseases to each other very easily. Your best option is to buy a separate cage for each bird.

being a lovebird it would probably like a cockatoo.

It can go in but will it come out alive? That’s the real question.

Seriously I would check with a pet store. You must remember though that individual birds may have different temperaments. I have seen bird parks with large aviaries containing quite an array of different birds but a small cage could be different. No matter what anyone advises if you do put them in together keep a good watch on them the first few days.

If they are in different cages now can you put the cages touching together and see their reactions to each other? Best of luck.

The sexes you have huge aviary and love birds will bite toes off of other species they are not clipped it doesnt matter.
The sexes you have them in seperate cages make sure that tiel never lands on top of the love birds will have the males will have the same cage now if you have the love birds are very rare that tiel will bite toes andor feet if you have.
The sexes you have the males will fight to defend what combination of other species they consider their space even if you have the same cage now if you have the tiel never lands on top of other species they are nonagressive it doesnt matter what.

If they were kept in a flight (aviary) where they could both fly and were able to get away from one another, they could do it. But in a normal cage it’s not a good idea at all. My brother had a parakeet and parrotlet who loved one another most of the time but if they had a fight, the parrotlet could have taken out the parakeet in no time and it was just a dangerous situation.

Lovebirds are known for being aggressive anyway and it’s best not to mix the two different types of birds. They can still hang out and socialize out of the cages though :)

    Hi,
I would not recommend it as cockateils and lovebirds don’t get along very well. If you want to try and place them together then i would recommend that you get the largest cage you can so that they can have there own teritories within the cage. I have though kept the two species together in the past but have always done it in a large aviary so that they have room to get away from each other.

One other word of advice is that lovebirds are noisey and i wouldn’t recommend them in a cage in the house, i think you would be better sticking with your cockateil.
