My Cockatiel Has a Loose Feather?
My cockatiel, Diablo, has a loose tail feather. Actually, it was bending in half because it got stuck in the cage bars because of a toy (which was removed). And it is really annoying me and Diablo. He tries to get it off, but it hurts him. The Av. vet said that it will fall off. It has been there for a month!!! How do I safely, and painlessly, remove this stubborn feather?
It’s bended in the middle. It is a medium sized tail feather.

How can I make my room bird-friendly?
If I got a smaller bed and got play gyms and other bird toys for my cockatiels would they be happier? And how can I incorporate my birds with things around my room? Any other ideas to make them more comfortable would be great! Thanks(:

How to get my cockatiel to eat various foods?
When i got him about two weeks ago, he was in a small cage with 3 other cockatiels and they would only feed on seeds. I want him to eat veggies and fruits but he doesnt seem interested.

Some food for my cockatiel?
The bird feed my little cockatiel has, has sunflower seeds in it and one has pop corn kernels.
I was wondering if my little guy could have some Frito Lay sunflower seeds that are flavored or salted. Or some fiddle faddle?

how do i teach my cockatiel to be open to other foods?
i’ve tried putting fresh cut up apples in her cage but she won’t eat them. should i just get a variety of fresh foods and put them in her dish to see what she likes??
all she likes is seeds and millet. that’s all she’ll eat even when i get her the food that has everything in it (dehydrated fruits, pellets, seeds, corn, etc.) all she likes is the seeds.
should i just put food in her dish that she needs to eat and when she gets hungry enough she’ll eat it?

cockatiel training with ‘Smidgin’
My new cockatiel called Smidgin has with us for about 2 and a half weeks now and I have trained him to chase a stick (touch training) and wave his foot. Sometimes he waves his foot even when we arent looking let alone when we ask him thinking he will get more treats. If any of you are wondering why he has no tail it is because after a couple of days of having him we were going to clip his wings but my dad grabbed him by his tail and it fell out but other than that he is fine

My cockatiel rubs his/her butt on the food dish?
I have been reading that is is normal. Everyone says HE as if it is only the males that do it. I bought a tri colored cockatiel 3 years ago as a mate for my male. They said it is a female. But SHE rubs her tail against the food dish and she hasn’t laid any eggs yet. I have been told that she could take 3-4 years before she would lay eggs but normally she would be laying by 1 year old.
Do I have a female or male? What is going on?
